What is botox and how does it work?
Botox, or Botuline Toxine, is a purified neurotoxic protein that relaxes the muscles responsible for the wrinkles. The effect of the aging process, that we all will experience eventually, is the wearing out of the collagen in our skin. The decrease of collagen can cause undesired features in our facial appearance. By using a fine needle to inject small doses (units) of botox into the muscles, wrinkles, eg. lines in the forehead and crow lines will smooth out or disappear entirely. Two to four days after the treatment the paralyzing effect of the botox will set in and the desired results will be at its maximum after two weeks. The working of botox is not permanent; the effect will last three to five months. Therefore we advise repeating the injections every three to five months.
The administration of the injection is carried out by using a very fine needle; this causes no pain, at the utmost a slightly burning sensation can be felt. In rare occasions an unwanted side-effect can occur, eg. a minor droop of the eyelid, an infection or bruising. However these side-effects are highly uncommon and only temporarily. The injections will not cause any scars and there is no need for recovery time

2. Fillers
What are fillers and how do they work?
As we grow wiser and older our skin changes with us; the volume and elasticity of our skin reduces. This results in creasing and wrinkling of the skin around our eyes and mouth. Fillers will reduce lines, for example the nasolabial fold and marionette lines. Improvement will instantly be visible. A Hyaluron-filler is a soft tissue transparent gel that will be injected into the skin in small or larger doses. At Aesthetic Clinic St Maarten a sedative cream will always be applied prior to the treatment. The desirable effect will not last forever, after about nine months to a year result of the treatment will fade out. We recommend repeating the injections every year to maintain the optimal natural and fresh facial appearance.
Besides reducing lines and increasing skin volume, fillers can also be used to correct small imperfections. The injections can be the solution for thin lips and for restoring the volume in the cheeks and cheekbones. Fillers are also suited to improve the volume of the skin of the hands when the veins and tendons become more visible.

3. Double chin treatment: Celluform
What is Celluform and how does it work?
Celluform is a special formula containing active principles such as Soy lecithin, deoxycholic acid and Nicotinamide (Vitamin PP), efficient against localized fat, water retention and cellulite. With multiple small injections celluform will be injected in a small area (most common area is the under-chin). The deoxycholic acid acts as a soap (emulsifier). Its physical features make it possible for the molecule to dissolve both in an aqueous environment as well as in a lipophilic environment (fat). The molecule dissolves fat cells and at the same time dissolves the fat contained in it. The deoxycholic acid also leads to a reorganization of the dermal tissue, resulting in lifting and a biostimulating effect.

4. Cryolipolysis/ Pro Shock Ice Therapy
What is it and how does it work?
Proshock Ice is a device for non-invasive treatments of localized fat and fibrotic cellulite reduction. It uses an innovative and patented technology denominated "Ice-shock-lipolysisTM". This methodology incorporates two technologies: Cryolipolysis and Shock wave. The methodology changes the world of cryolipolysis rendering it faster and absolutely less invasive with results that are immediately visible even on fibrotic cellulite. The drastic decrease of cellulite is due to the vascular exercise realized through the ICE probe with passages from warm to cold and the Shock-wave probe that works by breaking the fibrous septs and improving circulation.
What to expect?
During a one-on-one consultation you will meet with a Proshock Ice clinician. This person is a medical professional who had specialized training in the Proshock Ice procedure. During this consultation a holistic approach for reshaping your body will be discussed. Together with the Proshock Ice clinician you will focus on the specific areas where you want to eliminate fat and the treatment possibilities will be discussed. 5. Chemical Peels
What is it and how does it work?
Chemical peels improve the skins appearance. A chemical solution is applied to the skin, which will make the skin usually peel off a little. The new skin is usually smoother and less wrinkled than the old skin. We use different types of acids to treat every skin condition: acne, acne scarring, fine lines and sun damaged skin.
Nowadays for every skin type there is a peeling. At Aesthetic Clinic we work with 5 different types of peelings, so every skin type can be treated with the least possible change of skin damaging. Treatment will be safe for every skin type.
What to expect?
The results depend on the depth of the peeling. The use of superficial peelings like salicylic acid result in superficial skin injury and are well tolerated. They remove thin lesion on the skin surface, reducing superficial pigment and surface dryness. The result will come after repeated peels, usually 4 to 6 sessions, with an interval of 2 to 4 weeks.
Deeper peels provide more pain sensation, but can lead to a good improvement in skin texture, with a reduction of pigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles. Deep furrows cannot be treated with these peelings. Deep peels need to be repeated after 4 to 6 weeks. Usually results will be seen after 3 to 5 treatments.
Precautions
We recommend to avoid direct sun for at least 2 weeks after the treatment. Due to the thin skin sunburn can appear very quick with hyperpigmentation as a result. Use SPF 30 or higher with a UV A&B filter every 2 hours. Do not pick when you see any desquamation or crusts on the skin.
Maintenance sessions, usually after 3 to 6 months are required to keep your skin in a good, healthy condition.

6. Microdermabraision
What is it and how does it work?
Microdermabrasion is a skin rejuvenation system that gently exfoliate the surface of the skin using fine crystals, bristles, or diamond tips. A controlled vacuum lifts off the dry, damaged cell layers, leaving behind smoother, more vibrant skin. With progressive treatments this exfoliation procedure can remove damage caused by age, the sun and other environmental factors, leaving the skin looking younger.
Microdermabrasion is non-invasive. Unlike other skin rejuvenation treatments, microdermabrasion is virtually painless. The procedure removes only the outermost layer of dead skin cells to reveal the fresher, younger cells beneath. It is precise, safe, effective and can be used on all skin types and ages. Due to its controlled ability to rejuvenate the skin, there is no patient down-time; normal activities may be resumed immediately. An average treatment takes less than an hour and is usually performed in a series of weekly or two weekly sessions. Results can be seen just after one treatment. Your skin will get a nice glow. Side effects are minimal. Usually the redness will disappear after 3 to 4 hours.

Precautions
We recommend to avoid perspiring for 24 hours after treatment. Also avoid direct sun for two weeks and use sunscreen with at least SPF30 or higher with UV A&B filter every two hours. A few acne pimple breakouts may be experienced the first week after a microdermabrasion treatment. This is normal and part of the process. Do not pick at the skin as it may cause infections. Make up can be worn after 24 hours.

7. Micro-needling
What is it and how does it work?
For skin micro-needling, we use an electric skin needling device made especially for this purpose. The device is a pen shaped studded with 12 very fine needles. It is a device used to stimulate skin cells to proliferate and to break down old scar tissue. This cell multiplication results in the formation of new tissue layers of elastin and collagen fibers: they will increase in number and will be bigger. Professional micro-needling is considered to be one of the safest skin treatment procedures.
What to expect?
Improvement of the following skin problems:

• Mild to moderate scars due to surgery, acne or accidents; old or new

• Uneven skin tone due to melasma or sun damaging
Micro-needling can be safely repeated every 4-6 weeks until you achieve the desired results. For collagen induction we recommend to start with 3 treatments, with a minimum separation time of 4 to 6 weeks between treatments.
Precautions
Micro-needling is well tolerated by patients, but dryness, scaling, redness and swelling may be seen after treatment, lasting for several days or longer, depending on the depth of penetration of the needles. Sun protection is highly recommended for at least 2 weeks after your treatment. Use an SPF 30 or higher, with UV A&B filter. Rejuvenation of skin can be seen after 2 weeks and as long as 6 to 8 months after the treatment. When using micro-needling for burn scars, results after one treatment can take up from 6 months to 1 year.
The benefits of micro-needling are the reduced risk of hyper pigmentation and scarring. Therefore the treatment is safe to use on darker skin types (Fitzpatrick 4 to 6). Treatment is suitable for thin and sensitive skin.
